Upon completion of this event, you will have an understanding of the history of racial bias in medicine, learn to approach discussions relevant to structural racism in science and medicine, be cognizant of the laws that have impacted the lives of Black Americans in academia and in practice settings, and recognize the racial disparities relevant to Covid-19 and substance use treatment.

Dr. Jean Lud Cadet, M.D.
Dr. Cadet has been interested in Neuropsychiatry since Medical School at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in the 1970s in New York City. He then pursued residency training in Psychiatry at Columbia University and in Neurology at Mount Sinai Hospital in order to learn more about neurological and psychiatric diseases that impact the brain.
For more than 20 years, Dr. Cadet has been the committee co-chair for the Minority Research Training Program at NIH/NIDA; the Chair of the Diversity and Outreach Committee; and a member of the NIDA study group on Health Disparities. He has also been a standing NIDA committee member for minorities, women, and other underrepresented populations.
