Making the decision to enter a rehabilitation recovery center to conquer alcohol addiction is a tough choice many people will face during their lifetime. Anyone who has already made the commitment to get clean should feel a sense of pride because making this life-altering move takes courage. But what about when you’re faced with the temptations of the real world after treatment? What happens when you’re outside of the protection of the rehab center’s walls? How easy is it to stay sober then?

How to Stay Sober

Getting sober isn’t as easy as simply putting away the drink, especially for chronic drinkers. While you may feel confident about getting sober today, you may change your mind once the withdrawals begin. Many people want to get sober but are unable to fight the withdrawal symptoms, so they fall back into the ugly and downward spiral that is alcoholism.  A professional rehab center can certainly help you through the detox phase of recovery in order to help you attain your ultimate goal of staying sober. But when treatment is over, what will you do to prevent a relapse? This is where Lakeview Health in Jacksonville, FL, comes in. At our private residential adult rehabilitation recovery center, it is our mission to help patients achieve long-term sobriety through an assortment of proven methods, including a full evaluation of your medical and addiction history upon entering the program, dual diagnosis treatment to address underlying emotional and mental issues that may be at the root of your addiction, and by teaching our guests and their families healthy coping methods for dealing with the stresses and temptations staying sober in the real world once you leave treatment.

There is Help for Alcoholics That Extends Beyond Treatment at Our Rehab Center

Lakeview Health offers our guests real-life coping skills and tools that they will need in their life. To support long-term independence and continued sobriety, we offer a 4-day Family Program designed to help both the patients and their families through this trying time. Throughout the course of the program, families will have a chance to ask our qualified therapists questions and receive answers regarding any concerns they may have about addiction. Our Family Program also helps in the following ways:

  • Families have weekly contact with our therapists so they can stay on top of their loved one’s progress
  • Our family relapse prevention plan is aimed at putting an end to enabling behaviors
  • Support for family members who have been directly affected by their loved one’s addiction and behavior
  • A signed contract between guests and their families helps reinforce a commitment to long-term recovery and reminds guests of their reasons for wanting to stay sober
  • And an aftercare strategy is developed for both guests and families, which focuses on the goals of guests, their reasons for staying sober, and the coping tools they will need to utilize post treatment in order to avoid relapse

In addition, we offer our guests after-care support by way of approved therapeutic visitations in an environment where they will feel safe and supported. This same post-treatment support program is offered to the families as well.
