Lakeview Health Systems Supports NEDA Awareness Week

The Lakeview Health Systems family proudly supports National Eating Disorder Awareness Week sponsored by the National Eating Disorder Association. The mission of NEDAwareness Week is to prevent eating disorders and body image issues while reducing the stigma surrounding eating disorders and improving access to treatment. Eating disorders are serious, life-threatening illnesses — not choices — and it’s important to recognize the pressures, attitudes, and behaviors that shape them. Eating Disorders don’t just happen to women and don’t just happen on their own.  Anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders, just like drug and alcohol abuse, are addictions that can happen to anyone, anywhere. It is very common for drug or alcohol abuse to be present at the same time as the presence of an eating disorder. Actually, in many cases, the eating disorder predates the alcohol abuse or other addiction. For more information on NEDAwareness events in your area please visit the NEDAwareness website.
