Lakeview Health is pleased to announce that Adrian Blotner, M.D., FAPA, will be joining the Lakeview medical team in September 2016 as the campus psychiatrist for patients at the Rose and Star. Dr. Blotner is board certified in both psychiatry and pain medicine. He specializes in medication management, addressing all aspects of chronic pain and emphasizing non-habit-forming medications and non-medication techniques. Dr. Kevin Holbert, Lakeview’s chief of staff, is pleased to have Dr. Blotner on board. “Lakeview Health has become known in the industry for treating those patients with more significant medical acuity,” he said. “The addition of Dr. Blotner to the medical team reinforces our commitment to treating the highly acute psychiatric patient with substance use disorders.” Dr. Blotner is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans with an undergraduate degree in physiological psychology. After completing a Harvard Medical School externship at Massachusetts General Hospital, he went on to receive his medical degree from Louisiana State University. He completed his residency and a fellowship in psychiatry at Ochsner Clinic and Hospital in New Orleans. Lakeview Health’s CEO, Roy M. Serpa, says the presence of Dr. Blotner at Lakeview increases the treatment team’s ability to address the individual needs of those in recovery. “Dr. Blotner’s expertise means that patients, families, and referrers can be confident that when someone enters treatment at Lakeview Health they will receive the best care for both addiction and mental health disorders.” Dr. Blotner has worked as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Director of Pain Medicine Program in the Psychiatry Department at University of Florida Health since 2014. Prior to that, he was the medical director for the chronic pain program at JoEllen Smith Hospital in New Orleans. He was the chairman of the department of psychiatry at East Jefferson General Hospital in Louisiana from 2003 to 2005, and then served as a member of the faculty at the University of Tennessee Department of Psychiatry in Memphis. “I’m very excited and pleased that Dr. Blotner is joining our team,” said Dr. Philip Hemphill, Lakeview’s chief clinical officer. “Our careers have paralleled each other’s, but now we are finally intersecting. He brings a wealth of knowledge and professionalism along with his subspecialty in pain rehabilitation. His holistic approach to patient care integrates well with our model.” Dr. Blotner is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and has been a member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Medical Association and the American Pain Society.” About Lakeview Health Lakeview Health, located in Jacksonville, FL, serves individuals with addiction and psychiatric disorders.
