The bane of many bodybuilder’s existence is the featured muscle during this edition of Muscle Mondays. The gastrocnemius and soleus are the two muscles of your lower leg that allow plantar flexion of the ankle. The importance of this muscle cannot be overlooked because without it, you cannot walk, run, or drive. In other words, you would not move without these muscles. Your gastrocnemius is the external muscle that starts on the condyles of the femur above the knee, and inserts to the Achilles tendon. The soleus starts lower on both the tibia and fibula of the lower leg, but also connects into the Achilles for attachment onto the heel of your foot. Follow up with the video featured on the Lakeview YouTube Channel, or Lakeview Health Wellness Center Facebook page for demonstrations and explanations for training these muscles. https://youtu.be/TZqA0B7wSd0 Want to check out our other Muscle Monday videos?
