Participating in 30, 60, or 90 day drug or alcohol treatment is a positive step toward recovery. During this time you are able to free your body of chemicals and begin to focus on your mental and spiritual well-being. Post treatment support is valuable because it offers guidance from others’ experience, strength, and hope. Aftercare support can involve helping people determine their next best step in establishing life in recovery. Whether it’s helping someone develop life skills (how to grocery shop or do laundry), get into a sober living program, find a meeting or meetings to attend, guidance to finding a sponsor, etc., aftercare is a valuable part of a full continuum of addiction treatment and relapse prevention. Ashley, Ben, and Gina spoke with WSOS Radio about Lakeview Health’s Aftercare program. Click below to listen.
