June 24, Noon – 1 p.m. ET 1 CEU available This presentation will focus on providing a better understanding of gender identity issues in the field of addiction. Participants will learn about specific issues that affect the transgender population in terms of both substance abuse and addiction. The webinar will include culturally relevant information and background that will help treatment providers in caring for this population.

Goals/Objectives

Webinar participants will gain:

  1. Increased knowledge of sexual orientation and gender identity terminology
  2. Greater familiarity with issues and barriers the transgender population faces when seeking substance abuse treatment
  3. Knowledge of the interactions between transgender issues and addiction
  4. An enhanced ability to offer affirmative and culturally relevant and effective treatment to transgender clients for substance abuse
