Susan Pitman, CPP - Drug Free Duval
Susan has a passion for whole health. After experiencing the devastation of substance abuse, she founded a prevention coalition in 2008. Drug Free Duval now has over 1500 members dedicated to freedom from substance abuse.
Susan’s experiences include corporate lending for a major bank and the development of a consultancy focused on business, government and nonprofit work. She served on staff to Florida House Member, Dan Webster, then as policy advisor for Florida Senate President Jim King. Since 2010, Susan has provided expert testimony to the Florida Legislature regarding the impact to prevention on proposed laws. Susan has been honored as a Woman of Influence by the Jacksonville Business Journal, Duval County Council of PTAs and Drug Free America Foundation for work in reducing substance abuse through population level change. She worked with an international health matters initiative developing a 5-county strategic plan and served as Vice Chair of CCA representing 23 Florida counties. She designed the community perspective to Harvard Medical School’s Extension Education online Opioid and Heroin course and has been a speaker/panelist at events around the US and St. Croix regarding the opioid/heroin epidemic. Susan’s favorite work is family: her husband and four crazy awesome kids, their spouses and two precious grandbabies.
With the goal of freedom from substance misuse for all, Susan is committed to changing the culture regarding alcohol and substance abuse and to leave a community that has learned to make the healthy choice the easy choice.
