If you’re coming to Lakeview Health from a different town or state, as many of our clients do, you may want to take extra precautions during your travel. This could prevent your exposure to COVID-19. Lakeview Health is a drug and alcohol treatment center with locations in Jacksonville, FL. Once you’re here, we’ll take every precaution to keep you safe, but it is essential that you arrive healthy and ready for recovery. Below, we’ve put together a short list of travel recommendations to help keep you safe along the way.

If you or someone you care about is battling a substance use disorder and might benefit from a premier addiction treatment center in Florida, don’t let the current health crisis be a barrier to getting them the help they need. Reach out to Lakeview Health today using our convenient online form or call us at [Direct]. Our compassionate, expert team of addiction specialists is waiting to give them the tools they need to achieve genuine, long-term recovery.

Avoid Public Transportation

If possible, have a friend or family member drive you to our facility, or drive yourself if you are able. We’ll provide safe parking for your vehicle during your stay. By riding with a friend, you’ll avoid the health hazards of taking a bus or a train. Additionally, your ride will be more enjoyable, and you can have an extra layer of accountability. You’ll arrive at Lakeview Health feeling relaxed and ready to recover. Traveling with a friend can also give them joy, knowing they supported you in your recovery.

Adhere to Social Distancing Guidelines

If you do travel by plane, train, or bus, maintain social distancing guidelines when possible. Keeping a distance of six feet between yourself and others is an excellent way to help prevent transmission of the novel coronavirus. It would help if you also refrained from shaking hands with others, hugging them, or handling their belongings. Keep hand sanitizer ready to help protect yourself after touching seatbacks, handles, and doors. It’s also a good idea to travel with a small pack of sanitary wipes. These are easily tucked into a purse or a pocket, and you can pull them out to sanitize armrests and window controls before using them.

Wear a Mask

If you’re traveling via public transportation, please wear a mask to help protect yourself and others. Laws vary on masks from state-to-state, but it’s best to err on the side of caution. Wearing a mask that covers your nose and mouth may help keep you from infecting others should you be ill and not realize it. It’s also necessary to cover your mouth when you cough and sneeze, even when wearing a mask. Sneezing or coughing into your elbow is best because it prevents you from touching your face with your hands.

Wash Your Hands Frequently

You should wash your hands every time you disembark along the way. Frequent hand washing is a good preventative against COVID-19. While traveling on public transportation, avoid touching areas of your face or mouth. Many illnesses are transferred by your hands to your mouth and nose, where they then enter into your body. You may not realize it, but you probably touch your face more frequently than necessary. The majority of people do this. Whether brushing away a stray hair, scratching your nose, or chewing your fingernails, it’s important to train yourself to stop raising your hands to your face as much as possible, especially while the threat of COVID is still present.

Make Sure Your Mode of Transport is Well-Ventilated

If you’re carpooling, lower the windows to the extent possible. The recirculated air inside a vehicle may help spread germs and bacteria. Promoting the circulation of fresh air is an excellent way of keeping the inside of your vehicle clean. It’s more difficult to catch or transmit a virus in open-air settings. By allowing fresh air to blow through, you’ll lessen the chances of passengers becoming ill with the virus.

Your Arrival at Lakeview Health

Once you arrive at our drug and alcohol treatment center, our friendly representative will help you check-in and find your room. From this point on, your life will become more manageable. We’ll give you an initial assessment so we can determine the treatment plan that best fits your needs. From there, recovery becomes genuinely possible.
