There are people who know early on what they are meant to do and others who figure it out later in life. Christian rapper Thi’sl, born Travis Tyler, lived a sinful life, doing and selling drugs on the tough streets of St. Louis. However, his mission became clear in a jail cell and once he got the message from God, he pursued it full force.

God Works in Mysterious Ways

When Thi’sl was 21 and mourning the loss of a close cousin, he was accused of a murder he didn’t commit. He found his way to a local church and spoke to the pastor, a former police officer, about his situation. The pastor spoke to the detective handling the case and was able to buy Thi’sl time to find a lawyer. The Lord is always with His children and this rang true when Thi’sl walked into the lawyer’s office because the lawyer offered to help him without hesitation. Although the lawyer told him to wait a few days to contact the police, Thi’sl chose to turn himself into the authorities and ended up being locked up with six felonies charges.

God Is Listening

While in jail, Thi’sl began talking to God and heard Him say “You pray and I’ll come get you out.” And Thi’sl was free. From that moment on, Thi’sl knew he couldn’t go back to his old life. He chose to use his musical and lyrical talent to spread the word of God. He has made it his life’s work to reach the people he lived with in the inner city and show them a better life through God.
