Brooke Mueller, Charlie Sheen’s ex wife, checked into drug rehab as she faces alleged cocaine possession and assault charges. Regardless of the reason for entering addiction treatment, going to treatment is a good thing. It is so sad to see the way drugs destroys lives. In 1996, Mueller was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol. In 2001, she was arrested for cocaine possession and charges were dropped when no drugs were found in her system. In May of 2008, Mueller married an addict and well known celebrity, Charlie Sheen. In July 2011, she completed a 45 day outpatient program for alcohol and drug addiction. December 3, 2011, she was arrested for alleged cocaine possession and assault. Not long after this latest arrest, Mueller checked into inpatient rehab for substance abuse. The progression of the disease of addiction is clearly evident with Mueller. Her first infraction with the law was due to substance abuse when she was arrested at the age of 18 for a DUI. Her history reveals that she seemed to stay involved with drugs and alcohol in one form or another throughout time, leading to present day run-ins with the law. Addiction seems to entice individuals through excitement and fun but in the end only wants to destroy and kill. It is never too late to get recovery and hopefully Mueller will embrace recovery for herself and for her children.
