Break the Cycle of Addiction

We have all heard on countless occasions that abusing drugs and alcohol is bad for our health. We hear scary statistics of people who were killed as a result of their addiction, see horrifying pictures of addiction and yet so many people still go on to live their daily life in the grips of drug addiction and alcohol abuse. One reason why an individual finds themselves in the trap of addiction is because addiction is hereditary. If a person is genetically predisposed to addiction then they are more likely to suffer from the disease. Addiction to drugs and alcohol can happen in the blink of an eye. Whether an individual is genetically predisposed to addiction or has found themselves caught in addiction for any other reason help is available through addiction treatment. Just because someone in your family suffers from addiction and was unable to achieve long term sobriety does not mean you can’t. Therapists and certified addiction professionals will work with each client and assess them on an individual basis. Everyone who struggles with addiction and goes to addiction treatment is unique and therefore needs an individual treatment plan that is geared to meet their specific needs.  Whether a patient struggles with a dual diagnosis, trauma issues or is genetically predisposed to drug and alcohol abuse a quality rehab program will be able to address all of these issues and more. No one should have to live with addiction and everyone who suffers from the disease should know that it is possible to live life free of chemical dependency.  If you have a parent or family member that suffers from the deadly disease of addiction it doesn’t mean you have to.  The cycle of addiction can stop with you. The sooner that you get help to treat your addiction the better off you will be.
